Natty Titfers Steampunk Riding Hat by Lovebirds Vintage via The World of Suzy Homemaker

Photo: Lovebirds Vintage

Natty ~ Smartly dressed, dapper.
Titfer ~ Abbreviation of "Tit fer Tat", British rhyming slang for hat.

Ooooh! I do love me a natty titfer! I seem to have a good head for hats and I'll happily try on every single one in a shop as Beloved stands by yawning and making encouraging (or not so flattering!) remarks. When someone says they're getting married, my first question isn't "when's the big day?" it's "can I wear a hat?"

Some people say hats don't suit them (Beloved's one of them), but I reckon there's a hat for everyone. All you need is the right style and a master craftswoman to make one for you. Someone like Mandy Heathcote, at Natty Titfers.

Win a bottle of Frankincense Hydrating Facial Mist from Neal’s Yard Remedies

One of the great things about working for myself is meeting other small business owners.

Take the lovely Harriet Radley, for instance. Harriet is an independent consultant and group leader for Neal's Yard Remedies who I met at our local WiRE networking group in Uttoxeter.

When I mentioned to Harriet I was going on holiday, she generously offered me a brand new bottle of Frankincense Hydrating Facial Mist, to trial while I was away.

As someone who runs "hot", I was really looking forward to testing this gorgeous-smelling mist to help cool me down under the hot Rhodes sun.

Mellow Duck Saxony Side Table in Lime Zest Gressington Suede | www.suzy-homemaker.co.uk

Remember this beauty?

Beloved and I have been living with the Saxony Side Table from Mellow Duck for a few months now and I can honestly say, it’s become such an incredibly useful piece of furniture here at OneandSeventy, I don’t know what I’d do without it!

From indispensible side table, to occasional guest seating, its robust construction and slim design works perfectly in our home. So far, the Saxony has slotted seamlessly into a myriad of lounge updates and the zesty lime has complimented every one of my seasonal changes. I clearly love green more than I thought!

We've also had occasion to put it through its cleaning paces and it passed... with flying colours.

Swarovski crystal wine glass charms giveaway | www.suzy-homemaker.co.uk

Ever been at a gathering and thought "where on EARTH did I put my drink?"

Yeah, me too! (I'm saying nothing about the perils of drinking… or getting older!)

Thank heavens for wine glass charms. They're a brilliant way of keeping track of your glass and saving you from having to pour another drink...

...unless you want to, of course!

Review: Mellow Duck Saxony Side Table by www.suzy-homemaker.co.uk

I love getting comments on the blog, almost as much as I love cake. OK... I did say almost! Seriously, though, I never tire of reading all your wonderful feedback.

You guys ROCK!

Towards the end of last year, one comment in particular made me swell with pride. It was from Helen, the Director at Mellow Duck, who was keen for us to work together.

When I saw her products, the answer was a big, fat YES!
