Simple DIY for Valentine’s Day: Eye Heart Ewe

I love you, yes I do coz I know that you lova me too.
We're a pair, it's not fair when they say we're a Special Brew.

It's almost THAT time again. The day when love is in the air, the world turns red, and the cost of roses goes through the roof. Now I know this is going to come as a big surprise to you dear reader, because you know how much I just LOVE all the commercial nonsense that's thrown at us throughout the year, but Beloved and I aren't big on Valentine's Day. I know. Shocker.

Anyone who knows us will attest that we don't need one day to show each other how much we care; we're sickeningly loved up 365 days a year...366 on a leap year! We just don't see the point of shelling out pennies on unwanted gifts and overpriced set menus, when our absolute favourite thing at any time of year is sharing a meal at the kitchen table and cracking open a bottle of wine.

Besides, those pennies would be put to much better use buying yummy new housey stuff like, oh... I don't know... blingy new lights for example.

I must admit, it's been a LONG time since I stalked the postman for his sack of red envelopes, but I can't deny it. There is something warm and fuzzy about decorating the house with hearts in a nod to this annual day of lurve.

This simple craft project was born of a need to fill a pack of fancy gold frames I scored for a bargain during Dunelm's January sale. I knew they'd make a great addition to the Living Room Gallery Wall, but I had no idea what to put in them.

And then it hit me.

Talk about the perfect way to say I Love You.

Suzy Homemaker stylie, of course!

Eye. Heart. Ewe.

Geddit?

*groan*

Once I had the idea, the execution took no time at all. I fired up the Cricut and knock up the images in black sticky vinyl.

The heart was a file from the Cricut library, while the eye and sheep images were the result of a Google search (if you recognise your work, let me know – I'm all for giving credit where credit is due!)

It wasn't obvious when I bought them, but the frames came with stands, so they weren't designed to be wall-mounted. No biggie. I carefully removed the stands, then fixed the frames to the wall with 3M Command Strips.

Simples.

I love how they work with the rest of the gallery, complementing the black and mirroring the gold in the artwork I created from a Louis Vuitton handbag charm.

As for the design, it adds a quirky little something, don't you think?

I like quirky.

Quirky makes things personal.

Quirky makes a statement.

Quirky makes laughter.

And laughter makes a marriage.

At least, it does for us.

Naturally, Beloved took one look at my creation and shook his head in despair immediately fell in love with it.

And then he laughed.

He thinks I'm bonkers. I think he's a nutter. We definitely are a pair.

Some might say, we're a special brew.

Ooooh, now THERE'S a blast from the past! If this doesn't get you bouncing around, then there is something seriously wrong with you.

Come on... It's Friday. Crank it up!

Have a great weekend.

A hui hou,
