Harry Potter inspired keepsake box

Have you heard? J K Rowling has only gone and brought us a brand new era of wizardry! Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is a magical new trilogy, which hits the cinemas in November.

And I am BEYOND excited!

I’m not ashamed to admit that I big time love the Harry Potter films. I can watch them time and time again and never get bored. Everything about them is right up my street – from the storylines, to the production, to the costumes and the props.

Especially the props.

Hawaii Wedding Memory Box

Wedding Memory Box DIY | The World of Suzy Homemaker - www.suzy-homemaker.co.uk @SuzyHomemakerUK

Ahhhh. Hawaii.

Oh how I love thee.

From the moment I saw McGarrett and Danno policing the streets of O'ahu, I knew it was a place I would visit one day. And yes. I AM talking about the original series of Hawaii Five-0! Having said that, I cannot deny being eternally grateful to CBS for bringing us hot new versions of Waikiki's most famous crime fighting duo, in the form of Alex O’Louglin and Scott Caan.

Now, it’s not just the scenery I’m lusting after!

Black and White Easter Eggs

Black and White Easter Eggs - www.suzy-homemaker.co.uk | @SuzyHomemakerUK

With Easter just a couple of days away, you might still be in need of a last minute decorating idea.

If you have a cutting machine and some vinyl, these black and white Easter eggs are super easy. No machine? No problem! You can easily adapt the idea by hand-cutting some simple shapes (think chick, egg and rabbit silhouettes) or even applying some shop-bought stickers.

Oh! You'll also need some eggs. I used plastic, but you could just as easily use the real thing... if you don't mind a good blow.

Ooooh errrr!

Ostara / Easter banner

The World of Suzy Homemaker's spring wreath with Ostara (Easter) Banner - www.suzy-homemaker.co.uk | @SuzyHomemakerUK

Remember that wreath I knocked up earlier this month to welcome a little early springtime goodness?

Well, it's had a bit of a facelift.

As well you know by now, we at OneandSeventy observe the seasons and their corresponding holidays astronomically. So, in celebration of yesterday’s Spring Equinox, it was time to refresh our early spring decor with a few Ostara (Easter) touches.

Like a new banner for my wreath.

Easter decor ideas and some good news!

The World of Suzy Homemaker's Easter Decor 2016 - www.suzy-homemaker.co.uk | @SuzyHomemakerUK

I have good news and I have good news.

1. Ostara (Spring Equinox) is almost upon us. This means that come Sunday, we’ll be able to officially proclaim that spring has sprung and start enjoying longer days. Yay!

2. It’s almost Easter, which can only mean two things - a 4-day weekend and guilt-free chocolate. Yay!

And it doesn’t stop there. Oh no. I have even MORE good news!

I've been upgraded!

@SuzyHomemakerUK | The World of Suzy Homemaker - www.suzy-homemaker.co.uk

Don't panic. Beloved hasn't replaced me with a younger model (he wishes!). No. But with my second birthday just around the corner (erm... the blog's not mine!), there are changes afoot here at The World of Suzy Homemaker.

Not only do I have DIY and craft projects coming out of my ears that I can't wait to bring you, I've recently been upgraded to a brand-spanking new blogging platform, courtesy of those gorgeous lovelies over at Image Village. Without Mark & Lyndsey, this blog might never have made it past the "one of my bright ideas" stage, let alone become the success it has - so you have their genius to thank for me cluttering up your inbox.

Without boring you with the tedious details, I'm now blogging with EasyBlog5 and it's a bit of a learning curve, I can tell you! But now I've (almost) got the layout how I want it, the old blog will soon be taken off line. During the changeover, there's a chance you could end up commenting on the old site. Unfortunately if that happens, it can't be transferred across, so if you notice your comment has disappeared...

That'll be why!

Welcome spring into your home with a simple DIY wreath

As I gaze out of the window, it's hard to believe that Wednesday was the start of spring. Well… according to the weatherman, anyway.

It's grey, it's dismal and we've even had snow. Ugh! Perhaps it's time the weathermen realigned their expectations with the seasons rather than calendar months and welcomed spring the way our ancestors did… with the Equinox.

OK, so real spring may still be a few weeks off, but that doesn't stop us from bringing some new season goodness into our homes. Any excuse to banish winter, right? I can already feel the lure of the garden and I'm itching to launch into a spot of spring-cleaning.

Maybe tomorrow! For today, I feel in need of a little bright and sunny, so I made a lovely spring wreath for my mantel.

Create easy stylish storage from old boxes

Creating easy stylish storage from old boxes | The World of Suzy Homemaker - www.suzy-homemaker.co.uk @SuzyHomemakerUK

If you've been hankering after storage that's stylish as well as practical, then you've come to the right blog post! Whether you want glam or folksy, beautiful boxes aren't exactly hard to come by. But they can be pricey.

Why shell out your hard earned pennies, when you can make your own?

Now I'm what you might call a box hoarder. I have all kinds of boxes that originally housed all manner of items, from shoes, to shampoo, to vintage Dom Perignon. And I've kept them all under the pretext of "they might come in handy, one day".

Well that day has come!
