Japanese Garden Bexley, Kent Charity Open Day 2015 | The World of Suzy Homemaker

If you've had a chance to nosey around the blog, or been following the various social media exploits of @SuzyHomemakerUK, you'll know that Beloved and I are relatively new transplants to Staffordshire, having relocated from Kent a few years ago. Last weekend, we returned to our old stomping ground for an exciting World of Suzy Homemaker exclusive.

I was over the moon to be invited to preview "Wonders of the Orient", a stunning Japanese style garden in Bexley, ahead of its charity open day on Sunday, 26th July.

This magnificent private garden opens to the public for one day only, to raise much-needed funds for Demelza House Children's Hospice. If you're in the area, I wholeheartedly recommend you swing by for a visit. As if seeing the garden wasn't enough, there will also be plants, collectables, live music and homemade refreshments.

Magnolia Tree | www.suzy-homemaker.co.uk

Ahhh... spring. Don't you just love this time of year?

Tulips - www.suzy-homemaker.co.uk

Now I can't be sure, I could be wrong, but I may have ever so slightly alluded during my spleen-venting over on Our New Home, that I'm not the biggest fan of OneandSeventy's previous owners.

You think?

The fact that I am currently being slowly tortured to death by yet another shower issue (if you've ever suffered the constant drip, drip, drip of a leaky tap, you will feel my pain), is only serving to remind me of my dislike of Ms and Mrs X. (And no... that wasn't a typo).

Hi Debbie. In a way, it is! Once it flowered, I discovered it was a Spanish Bluebell, whose other common names are Forest Hyacinth

Premium White Lily Blooms - www.suzy-homemaker.co.uk

Do you have a favourite flower? Mine is the lily. From the fragrant and blowsy, to the delicate and sophisticated, I adore them all.

I often wonder whether it’s because of my name. After all, Susan is the Persian name for lily. But whether it’s an affinity with my roots, or the alluring beauty and scent of these fabulous flowers, lilies are my undisputed favourites.
