Why you need a responsive website | The World of Suzy Homemaker

Speak to any SEO guru and they'll tell you how they will get you on the first page of Google, GUARANTEED. Yeah, I'm not so sure that's really possible. I mean, how many websites are there in the world? Even if every single one were fully optimised, there can't possibly be enough space on the first page of Google to GUARANTEE your website will appear.

And besides, the ranking factors that determine what Google looks for change more often than some people change their underwear; it's a wonder anyone can keep up!

Sure, if you can, I'd always recommend you hire an expert. I'm just not sure I'd listen to the hype. If you can't afford outside help, there are plenty of things you can do yourself to improve your ranking and even make it onto the first page of Google. Jeez – I managed to do it and I have ZERO SEO experience!

From 21 April, you've been able to improve your chances even further, by ensuring your website has a responsive design. Moreover, if you DON'T have a responsive website, Google will penalise you and you could see your website falling down the rankings.

How to create VIPs on your iOS device | www.suzy-homemaker.co.uk

Having VIPs on my iOS devices is one of those really handy tools that I use every day, but I always seem to forget how to add a contact to my VIP List! I figured, if I needed a reminder, perhaps you might like one too.

As a Personal Assistant who works primarily in the virtual world, I rely heavily on tech to do my job. After years of working with windows, I'm now primarily a Mac user, although I do still have my trusty PC for those times when it's needed.

I like working with the Mac for many reasons, not least of which because it links seamlessly with my other weapons of choice, the iPhone and iPad. Having said that, I have to admit to becoming rather disappointed with my iPhone of late. The battery life is shocking and, as someone who uses my iPhone for photography (a LOT!), my head is being turned by several competitors who are offering far better cameras, for far less money!

There's every chance I may consider jumping ship at some point but until then, I want to get the best out of what I already have. One way of doing that is to ensure I never miss an e-mail from an important person, or VIP.

Things to Do List from The World of Suzy Homemaker

Ah..January. The time for starting over. For planning and goal setting.

Lots and LOTS of goal setting!

I'll be honest, I haven't done much in the way of formalising goals this year. Partly because I choose to run my business according to the UK Tax Year, so I'm still working on the goals I set in April. The other reason is because my only real plan for 2015 is to build upon the successes of last year and allow things to develop organically.

Business coaches everywhere will be hyperventilating at that one!

The iPhone is reputedly the world's most popular camera (according to Apple!) and yet, when it comes to saving those precious snaps to your computer, so many people get confused... including me!

Call me a dinosaur, but I like to housekeep computer files manually. That includes photos.

With the changes to camera roll and photostream in the recent iOS8 update, it's more important than ever to keep your images organised, but how?

Although a relatively recent iMac convert, I've been using iOS devices for several years now and merrily snap away on both the iPhone and iPad. But it wasn't until recently that I got my head around the best way to transfer photos between my mobile devices and my desktop.

Yes, my mac has iPhoto but for some reason, it's an application that makes very little sense to me. (Translation... possibly because of my fanatical housekeeping tendencies!)
