Guest Bedroom

Guest Room Makeover -

Save those unforeseen, yet nevertheless inevitable, additions and re-arranging of "stuff" (oh! and a new light fitting!), OneandSeventy's Guest Room makeover is pretty much complete.


After a stunning transformation from Fairytale Castle to Cool Monochrome, it was time to accessorise. If you missed it, you can catch up on the story so far here and here.


When I first visualised this primarily black and white room, I knew it needed a pop of colour to bring it alive. IKEA's funky Bollkaktus curtains were perfect. So much so, that Beloved drove 200 miles and braved "The Nasty Shop" not once, but twice to buy these babies! (Translation: it pays to check product availability before setting out! Sorry darling!)

Ta da! Here it is. The first of OneandSeventy's rooms to receive The World of Suzy Homemaker makeover treatment! I've since done a bit of tweaking and added a few more accessories, but more on that in a later post.

Like so many UK homes, the last of OneandSeventy's three bedrooms is a 'box room'. You know the type... it once housed the hot water tank, features a slope to accommodate the top of the stairs, and has just enough room to swing a cat.

(Not my cat, obviously.)

After having already designated the second bedroom 'office first, visitors second', the box room has become our main guest room, complete with double bed.

It was never my intention to decorate this room first. I always thought I'd crack on with the living room or even the hallway and stairs. But with a weekend visitor about to descend and having been totally inspired by the perfect Pinterest find, I jumped right in. (Translation: Cutting my teeth on a small room was probably wise!)

As Pinterest followers will attest, I'm rather partial to a bit of monochrome, but I doubt even I would've ever braved a black feature wall had it not been for this photo.
